QPR boss Harry Redknapp won’t get too many favours on his return to Bournemouth. The Cherries are currently on the brink of the play-offs after three successive wins and they will look to keep that run going against their more illustrious opponents.

Derby meanwhile will hope that Middlesbrough’s first win in 5 games last weekend does not start a late season revival especially as they travel to the Riverside for a must-win clash.

Wigan are breathing down the necks of the pair and will fancy their chances against a Leeds United in freefall as they await a verdict on the appeal submitted by Massimo Cellino after his takeover bid was blocked.

Reading, currently holding onto the final playoff place, head to face a Charlton side with 2 wins in their last three games.

Nottingham Forest will hope the news that Stuart Pearce will take over at the club in the summer will address their poor recent form. The club face relegation threatened Millwall.

Elsewhere Barnsley face Brighton, Blackburn host Ipswich, Yeovil travel to Blackpool, Doncaster and Birmingham meet at the Keepmoat Stadium and Huddersfield take on Bolton.

Leicester could go up if they beat Sheffield Wednesday on Friday and QPR and Derby both drop points on Saturday.

In order for that to happen, third-placed QPR must lose at Bournemouth and Derby, in fourth, must fail to beat Middlesbrough at the Riverside. Regardless of results this weekend, it would appear only a matter of time before return to the top flight is assured of ending their 10 year stay in the Championship.

Foxes manager Nigel Pearson has seen his reputation enhanced this season after successfully holding off the challenge of more experienced coaches such as Harry Redknapp and Steve McClaren. While the manager has earned much of the plaudits, the same applies to the players who have shown great determination and fight this season.

While Pearson is set to finally manage in the Premier League in his own right, the former Newcastle caretaker boss believes that his players also have the potential to play at the highest level.

“We have some quality at this level and I believe a lot of our players are capable of making the step up when we achieve that” Pearson told the Leicester Mercury.

“It is all right having good players but they have to be the right sort. They have to have the same goals and when things get tough, they have to be prepared to keep those values going.

“You can’t build a team overnight. It has taken time to build a squad of players good enough.”
