Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic are battling to replace the 25 year old with former Fiorentina star Jovetic the favourite after recovering from his own calf problem.
The 24 year old has struggled with injuries since his summer arrival making just 4 appearances but he could get a chance to impress ahead of a busy period for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
Pellegrini will also be without defenders Matija Nastasic (calf) and Micah Richards (hamstring) while Joe Hart could get a recall with Costel Pantilimon rested.
City will head into the game on a back of a stunning run of form that has included wins over Bayern Munich and league leaders Arsenal.

The striker has scored four goals in the competition this term, but has been ruled out until the New Year with a hamstring problem and misses out along with Republic of Ireland defender Sean St Ledger (groin) and Tom Hopper (shin).
Captain Wes Morgan and fellow defender Ritchie De Laet could play after recovering from injury to feature last weekend while Jamie Vardy is expected to be okay to play despite was forced off at Burnley.
