Arsenal wait on Bendtner to pick his next club
Nicklas Bendtner has refused to choose his next destination despite Arsenal agreeing terms with four clubs for the Danish striker’s signature.
One of the clubs who a have a struck a deal with Arsenal, Eintracht Frankfurt, sent Sporting Director Bruno Hübner to London to wrap up the transfer earlier this month but are yet to hear a response from the 25 year old while another unnamed club have dropped their interest in the player since getting the cold shoulder.
Bendtner said earlier in the month that he was aware of the bids, “Arsenal have agreed with five clubs so now it is up to me to make a choice. I will make that choice within the next 14 days.
“They are all good clubs. It is a hugely important choice I’m faced with. I must go where I am wanted. As a footballer, there is only one thing that can make you happy: playing time.”
He said at the time that he would make his decision by June 24th so as to be in pre-season training with his new club but he has yet to follow through on that schedule.
Bendtner’s last appearance for the Gunners was in 2011 and he has since been loaned out to Sunderland and Juventus though neither of those clubs is thought to be interested in taking the player on a loan deal.
In January Bundesliga side Hamburg attempted to secure the Danish international’s signature but were rebuked when he claimedthe side were too small for him but the player is now aware that he may have to lower his expectations if he is to see first team football.
“Will it be good for me to go to a big club where I risk the bench? No, I’d rather go somewhere where the club is located just below the top where I can play every week,” he said recently.
“I can take a step back to take three forward.”
Arsenal are keen to move the player on so as to free up the funds for the capture of Real Madrid’s Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain who is likely to agree terms with Arsene Wenger in the coming days after his other suitors Juventus opted for Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez.
Higuain’s brother climed yesterday that the £22million move is almost complete.
