Chelsea to test Everton with Fellaini bid – Monday’s Rumour Round-up
- Updated: August 28, 2012
Chelsea will test Everton’s resolve to hold onto star midfielder Marouane Fellaini by tabling a substantial bid for the Belgian international. Fellaini has enjoyed a storming start to the new Premier League season scoring the winner against Manchester United and then notching a goal in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa last weekend.
The Blues have spent heavily in the transfer window but are still in the market for attacking reinforcements and are targeting the Toffees man along with Edinson Cavani, Falcao, Hulk or Andre Schurrle. Squeaky Bum Time Source
City planning clear-out to fund triple swoop – Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is ready to let Edin Dzeko, Nigel De Jong and Stevan Savic leave the Etihad Stadium in order to finance moves for midfielders Javi Garcia and Javi Martinez, of Benfica and Athletic Bilbao respectively. Mancini is frustrated by the lack of signings this summer but should tie up a deal for Scott Sinclair on Wednesday and could even move for Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic. Squeaky Bum Time Source
Magpies brace themselves for bids – Newcastle are preparing to field a host of offers for midfielders Yohan Cabaye and Cheick Tiote as Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger steps up his interest in the duo. It’s understood that the Magpies would be willing to let the pair go for around £15 million each and could use the funds to sign long-term defensive targets Mathieu Debuchy and Douglas while a late approach Andy Carroll is still being discussed. QPR struggling to tie up deals for defensive duo – Queens Park Rangers are struggling to complete the signings of defenders Michael Dawson and Ricardo Carvahlo. Tottenham accepted a bid, thought to be in the region of £9 million, from the R’s last week but Dawson’s reluctance to move to Loftus Road is holding up the deal and either Sunderland or Stoke could pounce. The loan deal for Carvalho has also stalled and manager Mark Hughes is now ready move on to other targets. Squeaky Bum Time Source
Gunners still keen on Capoue- Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is still interested in signing Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue after stepping up his search for Alex Song’s replacement after cooling his interest in Yann M’Vila. The 24-year-old France midfielder caught Wenger’s eye last season with some sterling displays at the Stadium Municipal and will make his move before the transfer window slams shut on Friday afternoon. Spurs closing in on signings- Tottenham manager Andre Villas are closing in on the signature of Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and have also submitted fresh bids for Shaktar striker Willian and Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila. The Portuguese tactician is also after Daniel Sturridge, Moussa Dembele, Isco and Leandro Damiao but will have to sell before he can buy. That could lead to Rafael van der Vaart, Jermain Defoe and Michael Dawson all leaving this week. Squeaky Bum Time Source
