Tottenham linked with moves for exciting trio – Nani, Strootman and Rodriguez
Tottenham Hotspurs are being linked with a surprise move for Manchester United winger Nani.
Italian Newspaper Corriere dello Sport are reporting that Spurs have moved ahead of Serie A side Roma in the race to sign the Portuguese star.
Nani endured a frustrating season with the Premier League Champions last season making just 15 starts in all competitions. The 26 year old seems set to leave Old Trafford this summer following the capture of Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha and had been linked with a move to Monaco.
Roma were believed to have moved into pole position to snap up the star but White Hart Lane director of football Franco Baldini has set his sights on Nani much to the annoyance of his former employers.
Andre Villas-Boas is believed to be keen on the versatile winger as it would allow Gareth Bale to move into a more central attacking position as well as providing cover for Aaron Lennon on the right wing.
The same newspaper is also reporting that Spurs are set to pip Manchester United to the signing of PSV star Kevin Strootman.
Despite the recent signing of Brazilian midfielder Paulinho and the return to fitness of defensive midfielder Sandro Spurs are still keen to bolster their midfielder options and are keen on the Dutch Under-21 star.
The player has been linked with a host of Europe’s top sides and is widely tipped to leave Holland this summer. Old Trafford has long been touted as a possible destination but the emergence of Spurs as potential suitors could scupper David Moyes chances of landing the 23 year old.
The 18 times capped International would cost interested club around £20 million.
Meanwhile the good news for Tottenham fans continues following news that the club have received a boost in their quest to sign Real Madrid winger Jese Rodriguez.
The £8.5 million rated star has opened the door to a possible move to the Premier League by revealing that he may move on this summer if he is not guaranteed a more prominent role in the Madrid line-up next term.
The Spanish U20 star is entering the final 12 months of his contract and impressed last season for the Real Madrid B side scoring 22 goals last season in the Segunda division.
Villas-Boas has been keeping tabs on the talented attacker, who can also play up front, is ready to move for the player following his recent admission with the 20 year old telling the Spanish media “I want to play, and I don’t know if I’ll get many minutes in the Real Madrid first team,”
