With frustrations growing at Arsenal, the club have been coming under increasing pressure to try and solve the problem and spend some of their large budget.
Having so far failed to sign big names such as Luis Suarez and Gonzalo Higuain, The Gunners are reportedly ready to make their next signing of the summer.
But the player in question is hardly a known name in world football as The Gunners are ready to sign young Freiburg defender Matthias Ginter as early as next week.
The 19 year old German has impressed many figures in Europe as he became part of an impressive Freiburg campaign last season that saw the Bundesliga club earn a place in the Europa League over the coming season.
It’s reported that the club have an agreed a £6m bid for the player over the past few days and the club is ready to host the player for a medical over the next day or two.
With Ginter having also notched up 3 appearances for the German U-21 squad, Wenger is hoping that the defender will become a top player at the club following showing promise in another top European league.
If Ginter was to sign for Arsenal, it would mark a big jump for the player who is able to play in both central defence and midfield.
Having only made his league debut for Freiburg last season, Ginter has certainly impressed in his 21 appearances for the club last season.
As well as being a part of the first team setup at the Mage Solar Stadion, Ginter also earned several accolades at the club including becoming the team’s youngest scorer ever in the Bundesliga.
If Ginter is to become the next addition at The Emirates Stadium, it would seem that Arsenal are sticking to their transfer policies of previous seasons with signing promising youngsters rather than fully known international players
After all, the club’s only signing so far has been Yaya Sanogo who signed from Auxerre on a fee transfer at the start of July.
Sanogo had impressed for the French side in Ligue 2 last season and this had been enough for The Gunners to warrant signing the French international.
Despite The Gunners having previous success in signing promising youngsters, many fans had been hoping for a big name signing this summer and bringing Ginter to the Emirates may not be enough to satisfy the growing expectations of Arsenal fans.
