Arsenal face their second London derby in a matter of days when they take on West Ham at Upton Park on Boxing Day.
The Gunners saw their grasp on top spot slip away when they drew with Chelsea last time out, a result that saw them drop to third in the table.
The draw with Chelsea was the club’s first 0-0 result of the season meaning that only Liverpool and Fulham have yet to be involved in a blank this season and while that won’t concern Arsene Wenger too much the fact that his side only managed their first shot on target in the 85th minute will.
The Gunners are without a win in their last three leagues games drawing with Chelsea and Everton and losing to Manchester City.
They will hope to get back on track against a West Ham side that is currently one place and one point outside the relegation zone and without a win in their last four league games.
In fact the club have won just once in their last 10 league games with their only other wins during that period coming in the Capital one successes over Burnley and Spurs.
West Ham will once again be without former Liverpool stars Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll with Achilles and foot injuries respectively for the game but they will be boosted by the return of Kevin Nolan following suspension.
Carlton Cole will hope to continue his recent impressive form with a goal against the Gunners. The 30 year old re-joined the club on a short term deal in October and has so far scored twice in 7 games, including a first away goal in 24 games against Manchester United last time out.
Arsenal meanwhile will welcome back defender Laurent Koscielny to the fold after he missed the game against Chelsea with a gash on his knee however Jack Wilshere will once again be missing as he sits out the second game of his two match suspension.
Lukas Podolski was an unused substitute against the Blues and will hope to feature while Santi Cazorla and Matthieu Flamini will also hope to feature after being unused on Monday.
Long-term absentee’s Yaya Sanogo (back), midfielders Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Abou Diaby (both knee) remain sidelined.
