The Gunners will head into the game on the back of a miserable week that began with a 6-0 defeat away to Chelsea in Arsene Wenger’s 1000th game in charge and culminated in a 2-2 draw at home to Swansea.

The result left the club 6 points behind Chelsea with 7 games to go and if they are to have any hope of winning the title they will need to get a result against inform City.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side warmed up for the clash with a 3-0 win over rivals Manchester United midweek, a result that moved them to within 3 points off top spot with two games still in hand.

A brace from Edin Dzeko and a 21st goal of the season from Yaya Toure sealed a third straight win for the Citizens at Old Trafford and re-affirmed the belief amongst most pundits that the club are set to re-claim the title they surrendered last season.

Despite their tag as title favourites, club captain Vincent Kompany insists that the race for the title is far from over and his side has plenty left to do.

“It’s just one little step (beating United),” Kompany told Sky Sports after the victory. “The other teams are still very good.

“I mean games have to be played. As long as we don’t have the points, I don’t consider ourselves there yet.

“With the game against Arsenal, obviously it’s good in a way, because you don’t have to make a big effort to get the lads focused again.”

City will once again be without top scorer Sergio Aguero for the clash with Dzeko set to keep his place while Matija Nastasic also missed out with a knee injury.

Arsenal meanwhile will be without injured trio Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere although thankfully for the Frenchman he has no new injury worries to contend with.
