Chelsea will look to build on their impressive opening day win over Burnley when they take on Leicester at Stamford Bridge.
Goals from summer signing Diego Costa, Andre Schurrle and Branislav Ivanovic secured a 3-1 win over the newcomers, in a game that saw another summer capture, Cesc Fabregas provide two assists.
The win moved the Blues top of an admittedly very early table but it did underline the belief that the club are set to offer a serious challenge to Manchester City this season.
Next up for Jose Mourinho’s men is a Leicester side that battled back to claim a point at home to Everton last weekend.
Last season Chelsea had a strong home record dropping just 9 points all season however the slip ups coming against the so called lesser teams, West Ham, WBA, Norwich and Sunderland, something that will be a cause of concern for Mourinho ahead of this this weekend’s clash.
The meeting will be the first between the two sides since January 2004, when Chelsea ran out 4-0 winners away having won 2-1 at home earlier in the season.
Mourinho is likely to retain Thibaut Courtois in goal after the Belgian’s strong debut at Turf Moor all of which means that Petr Cech will once again be on the bench. Cech’s future has been the subject of much speculation this week with the veteran linked with a move away
Chelsea picked up no injuries in the game with Burnley meaning that Mourinho has a fully fit squad to choose from and it remains to be seen if he will tinker with his squad with Didier Drogba and Willian, subs last time out, pushing for starts.
Leicester meanwhile will head to Stamford Bridge full of confidence after they were the only newly promoted side to pick up an opening day point. Nigel Pearson’s will be without Midfield duo Danny Drinkwater (hamstring) and Matty James (shin) for the trip with Matthew Upson (foot) also out.
The Foxes will be boosted however by the inclusion of Marc Albrighton (groin) and Jamie Vardy (thigh).
