As Arsenal gear up for what promises to be mouth watering encounter between two of the most successful sides in English football history, Arsene Wenger had a few things to say about one of the most consistent performer in his side since the beginning of campaign, who might have ended up at Liverpool
During this year’s summer transfer window, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers moved heaven and earth in a bid to acquire the services of Chile international Alexis Sanchez. The versatile forward was keen on testing his luck elsewhere after growing frustrated with life at Barcelona where he was unable to produce the displays that made him such a huge star at Udinese.
However, instead of opting to play for the Reds, Sanchez chose to sign for Arsenal and Wenger says that the forward’s style of play was a perfect fit for Arsenal.
“I met his agent in Brazil during the World Cup a few times and talked about the transfer. Back in Europe, we did it with Barcelona. Once we got the decision he would like to join us, we were happy.”
Following a 5-1 thrashing in the same fixture last season, Wenger will be eyeing to extract some sort of revenge and will be expecting Sanchez to be the focal point for all good things his team does on Sunday.
