An extremely late equalizer courtesy of Martin Skrtel made sure that Liverpool salvaged a draw in Sunday’s crunch Premier League game against Arsenal at Anfield.
Although Arsenal seemed to be on the right track, it was Brendan Rodgers’ side that was superior in the opening moments of the game.
The Gunners saw little of the ball and it was clear that the players were simply unprepared for the challenge.
Moreover, the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck remained high up the pitch which did not help ease the burden on player in the deeper positions.
The absence of Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil further complicated things for Wenger’s men who simply failed to deal with the movement of Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana.
Moreover, the full-backs struggled against wing backs Jordan Henderson and Lazar Markovic which meant that Mathieu Flamini had to multitask throughout the game.
And although neither side deserved to win this particular encounter, Arsenal should consider themselves lucky that the home side had forgotten to put on its shooting boots else it would have been a different story altogether.
