Arsenal defender, Per Mertesacker admits that his team failed to find their natural game as they huffed and puffed towards a 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield last night.
The Gunners started the game against Brendan Rodgers side very slowly and took quite some time to come out of the blocks.
And although they did secure a lead in the second half through an Olivier Giroud strike, Martin Skrtel’s injury time equalizer was something the home side deserved for the way they dominated the game.
And, Mertesacker says that although this was a different performance to the one that saw the team concede five goals last season, the German admits that the team really struggled to adapt to the game.
The World Cup winner says that him and his teammates must take full responsibility of the result before adding that the club is now looking forward to the next league game against QPR.
“Overall we have to take responsibility for our game – we want to dictate but we were on always on the back foot.
“I’m not really pleased with the performance but we take the point now and we’re looking forward to December 26.
We have to dig in now and try to beat QPR.”
