Arsene Wenger’s side are officially the most popular and followed English team on the social networking side.
The Gunners have become the most followed English football team on Twitter and narrowly lead Chelsea on the social networking side. However, it will take them some time to reach the following that La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona enjoy.
Last night, The Gunners’ official Twitter account reached five million followers and effectively trumped the following of Chelsea who boast around 4,800,000 followers from all over the world on Twitter sphere.
However, it should be noted that there is still a big gulf between Arsenal and La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid who have a whopping 14 million followers which pales in comparison to the following Premier League sides currently enjoy.
The latest stats show that Turkish Superlig giants, Galatasaray make up the top five most popular football clubs on Twitter which is quite surprising considering the fact that the Turkish side has not really been a force to be reckoned with in recent Champions League outings.
Manchester United meanwhile, are in sixth place while Liverpool are in eighth place. Part of the reason behind Arsenal’s Twitter resurgence is the new marketing model the club has used which aims at taking the club’s message far and beyond.
