The France international has admitted that his team has dropped points in a very stupid manner in the league this season.
Mathieu Debuchy and his teammates are set to head into a very busy run of Christmas fixture, sitting in a lowly sixth place in the league standing and four points behind fourth placed West Ham United. Things could have been different for the Gunners had the defense held on in the dying embers of the game against Liverpool.
Some really stupid defending allowed Martin Skrtel to score an injury time equalizer and Debuchy believes that his team has dropped points rather stupidly.
While talking to reporters, the full back stated that the team has played a big role in its own downfall and regardless of the fixtures, it is down to them to keep winning if they aspire to finish in the top four.
“They’re solid on their own turf. But, at the same time, it’ll be a great opportunity to overtake them. We no longer have a choice. We have dropped too many points stupidly, like at Liverpool. If we want to finish in the top four, we have to win.”
And although the Frenchman admits that the team has been unlucky because of many injuries, he believes that the time has come for them to start winning games.
