Former Arsenal man and the club’s all time leading goal scorer, Thierry Henry has stated that his criticism of the Gunners current striker Olivier Giroud was taken completely out of context.
Following Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea back in April last season, the French legend stated that the team needs a better striking option up top – something that really irked the former Montpellier Herault striker. And although Giroud chose not to enter a war of words with the Gunners legend, Henry’s sentiments were not appreciated.
And now, the former striker has chosen to come out and explained his comments. Henry says that people took a wrong meaning out of his statement and stated that he meant that the club needed another striker to help out Giroud.
Nonetheless, reports claim that Arsene Wenger is keen on signing another top quality striker who can share the goal scoring burden with Giroud who at times did cut a lonesome figure for his team.
