Lukas Podolski leaves Arsenal

After three years at the Emirates during which he simply failed to live up to his true potential, the German international has left London to sign for Galatasaray

The former Bayern Munich man has signed a three year deal with the reigning Turkish champions for an initial 1.8 million pounds.

The 30 year old moved to Arsenal from Koln in 2012 for 11 million pounds but despite being given a plethora of chances to showcase his potential, always seemed to struggled for form and consistency for Arsene Wenger’s side. Perhaps his greatest moment for the Gunners was when he helped Arsene Wenger’s side lift the FA Cup in 2013.

The German spent the last season’s second half on loan with Italian Serie A giants Internazionale where nothing really improved for him and now, the player would be looking to resurrect his career with the Turkish giants where he has been guaranteed enough game time to rediscover his true self.

Galatasary president Dursun Aydin Ozbek said Podolski, a World Cup winner with Germany in 2014, had been a long-term target.

He added: “Podolski was a player we have been following for a long time. We have met the expectations of our fans. We think he will serve us for many years.”
