The former Arsenal shot stopper feels that the German international needs to be really asserting his authority for the Gunners in big games
Since joining the Gunners from Real Madrid a couple of years ago, Mesut Ozil has become one of the most integral members of the club’s starting XI. However, many fans and football analysts feel that the former Werder Bremen man really struggles to show his true self against the bigger sides in the Premier League and in the Champions League.
And Lehmann, who was an invincible for the Gunners during his playing days, wants Ozil to shine brighter against the big sides and add more consistency to his game.
“Everyone knows he can be a fantastic player. But you need to be a fantastic player in the big games,” Lehmann told The Sun.
“You don’t need to be a fantastic player in the small games and mediocre player in the big games.
“He can definitely do that but now he must prove it. You need to know how to think and how to programme yourself.”
