Arsene Wenger explains why Lukas Podolski was let go

The Germany international has signed for Turkish champions Galatasaray and his former coach at Arsenal chose to explain why he allowed the attacker to leave Emirates so easily

After three seasons in which he was unable to truly live up to his undoubted potential, Germany international, Lukas Podolski has cast his lot with the reigning Turkish champions who have guaranteed him regular game time in a bid to resurrect a career that seems to be going nowhere at the moment.

While talking to reporters, Wenger revealed that Podolski was allowed to leave because there was just way too much competition for a place in the starting XI.

Wenger speaking to Arsenal player, said– “Lukas Podolski played in a position that is congested because we have so many wide players or players who can play wide.

“I felt that the opportunities for him to play with the stature a player has, he needed to go somewhere and play.

“I believe it’s a good move for him because if Lukas has confidence and trust from the manager, he has the potential and the talent. I was not sure I could give that to him here.”
