Arsene Wenger set to offer Theo Walcott a contract extension

The Gunners manager is really happy with the English winger’s performances over the last few months and is willing to tie him down to a long term deal

Walcott was in sensational form as Arsenal beat Everton 3-1 in the final of the Barclays Asia Trophy. The former Southampton man had a tough time with injuries last season but whenever he was fit, he showed his value to the team with his energy and a straightforward approach to the game.

And Wenger is more than willing to offer Walcott a long term deal in order to stave off competition from other sides.

The Frenchman on the contract extension, said, “Yes, because he is close to the end of is contract next season.”

“He is sharp and prepared well. He is like every player – they look fit, close to full fitness. It’s quite amazing how the players are back to a good body shape and a good [level] of fitness because they prepare well. Now football has changed – they come back after holidays and they don’t start from zero. They have done their homework and he is one of them.”
