The Gunners have been relatively quiet in the transfer market so far but the club’s director says that there is a lot of money for Arsene Wenger to spend on new players
Lord Harris says that things have changed at the Emirates now and unlike transfer markets of past where the club was forced to make shrewd investments, Arsene Wenger now has the luxury to spend big in the window to assemble a title winning squad.
Harris says that following the relocation from Highbury, the club had to take care of the finances but now, circumstance are such that the team can buy any player except the likes of Messi and Ronaldo and also hinted at the possibility of breaking the transfer record again.
“Money was tight when we moved to the Emirates but it’s a lot freer now,” he told the Daily Mail. “We could go into the market and probably buy any player in the world, apart from half a dozen who are un-buyable.
“In the accounts, there’s over £200 million in the bank. There are no plans to sign anyone, unless he finds a real superstar like Ozil or Sanchez. He’s looking for one of those but there aren’t many available.”
