Arsene Wenger confident over star player’s contract extension

Theo Walcott is yet to sign an extension to his current contract but the Arsenal manager is not worried about that at all

The French tactician has informed fans that the 26 year old Englishman will be signing a new deal with the Gunners soon before adding that he may not even need to sign a new striker if Walcott keeps producing goals on a consistent basis.

The forward has had his fair amount of critics over the past few years but after scoring the only goal of a 1-0 win over VfL Wolfsburg, Wenger has stated that he always knew that the former Southampton man had goals in him.

Not yet but we’re getting closer and closer. Hopefully we can finalise it very soon,” he replied when asked if Walcott had already signed a new deal.

“It was another goal for Theo and I’m not surprised by that because I played him through the middle.

“I’ve always said that he’s a goalscorer because he has the movement, he has the timing of the run, the speed for the finishing, and he has an eye for taking his chances at the right moments.
