After seeing his team win four out of four friendlies this summer, the Arsenal manager says that the team is in fine form ahead of the Community Shield
The Gunners head into the Premier League curtain raiser on the back of a good run in form in which the team boasts a one hundred per cent record and Wenger is confident that his players can replicate success in the preseason to when it matters the most.
The Gunners have managed to score 14 goals in the last four games and Wenger says that a good preseason helps the team to prepare well for the season.
“We had a good preparation and a good preparation brings confidence.
“Of course confidence is important but competition demands performance. It’s a good basis to have a good confidence level in the preparation.
“If you have the choice, when you prepare a team you want a good pre-season. It doesn’t give you a guarantee that you start strong in the competition but it’s still better for the confidence and the belief of the group.
“Then, when it comes down to points, you add that little bit of extra commitment that is demanded in games.”
