Arsene Wenger: Jack Wilshere will be out ‘for a few weeks’

The Gunners boss has confirmed that Jack Wilshere has a hairline crack on his left fibula, and will be out for a few weeks.

The 23-year-old English international midfielder’s career has been blighted by frequent knee injuries in the past, and now he has contracted his latest ankle injury while training on Saturday before the Community Shield game.

“The information you have heard about Jack Wilshere is right,” Wenger spoke to the club’s official website.

“I had a bad surprise because it is a hairline crack in his fibula that makes him a few weeks out.

“There is minimal damage apart from the bone damage – there is no damage at all apart from that. It was a collision in training and it was all completely accidental.”

Meanwhile, the Arsenal medical team is trying its best to minimimize the injury duration.
