Joel Campbell may stay at Arsenal but his chances of making first team are bleak

Arsenal striker Joel Campbell is hinted to stay at the Premier League outfit for another term. Although the Costa Rican ace is still to make an appearance in the first team, manager Arsene Wenger said he wants to keep the players at Emirates Stadium.

“At the moment he is here and personally I would like to keep him,” he said.“I will have to sit down with Joel because I rate him highly as a player and personally if he stays here I am very happy.”

Campbell was signed by the Gunners in 2011 but due to work visa problems he had to wait for three years to enter the UK. Since then he has been handed out on loan to other clubs. He recently completed his loan stint at Villareal and now is wanted by Palermo for £6m deal.

However, the 23-year-old wants to be on the Gunners’ first choice squad. Even though he was included in the squad last season, he was unable to make Wenger’s pecking order the whole campaign.

Expected to have the same fate this term as well, the boss has decided to keep him earning money for the club until he is at the level to play for his team.
