With Alexis Sanchez coming out and stating that he “wants Champion’s League Football” over the weekend, his departure from North London is beginning to seem more likely.
If Sanchez does in fact end up leaving the club, Arsenal are believed to be in pole position to sign Celtic striker Moussa Dembele.
After a season in which he scored 32 goals in 48 appearances in a Scottish Treble winning season at Parkhead – and still only 21 years old – Dembele is hot property in the football world right now, and has a very bright future ahead of him.
Dembele announced himself in Glasgow with a hat-trick against Rangers in the Old Firm Derby in the September of last year, and has gone from strength to strength since; continuing his fantastic debut season and being linked with top clubs around Europe, including Chelsea in the January transfer window.
With Olivier Giroud also reportedly on the way out of the Emirates, it looks like Arsenal will be entering the new season with a new-look forward line – with French Striker Alexandre Lacazette already signing this Summer – and Dembele may represent a good option for Wenger’s men.
The move appears to hinge, however, on Sanchez departing the club – which isn’t set in concrete just yet. The Sun are reporting that Sanchez is in love with London-life, and if Arsenal are to offer a better deal – reported to be £275,000 per week –the Chilean forward may remain at the club.
Manchester City have been heavily linked with the 28 year-old, who recently appeared in the Confederations Cup Final with Chile, but manager Arsene Wenger has stated that Arsenal would not like to sell to a Premier League rival.
