Normally when these two teams meet the gap between them is very small and both are expected to challenge for the Premier League title.
However, this season as we head into the first meeting between these two, we have a slightly different picture. Arsenal have started the season poorly, with issues both on and off the field and that have left me questioning how they are going to crack the top four, I just can’t see them doing it.
With Chelsea on course for a shot at retaining their league title, we could have these two clubs seperated by at least four places twice in the last two years when we reach the end of the season.
After an opening day slip up at home to Burnley, Chelsea have won their last three games and now sit third in the Premier League, just one point off the two Manchester clubs. Arsenal are down in 11th, with two wins and two defeats from their opening four games and that could have been a lot worse had they not recovered in the final few minutes against Leicester on the opening day.
The gap between these two looks like it could be as big as it has ever been and for that reason I see only one outcome here and that is a Chelsea win. We have seen many classic games between these two in the past, but they could be a thing of the past, with the gap widening between these clubs all the time.
I would love to see Arsenal bounce back into contention and challenge for the top four, but right now they have shown nothing, either on or off the field that makes me think that is a posibility. I see nothing other than a comfortable victory for Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
