Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has said that he is looking forward to Sunday’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur and knows just how important the game is.
This is of course a massive North London derby at White Hart Lane on Sunday, with both sides needing a win to increase their chances of a top four finish in the top flight. At the moment, Spurs are in third and the Gunners are four points behind them in fifth.
Cazorla is sure to be one of the key men for Arsene Wenger’s team in this one and after grabbing a match-winning brace against Aston Villa last time out, the Spaniard should be full of confidence.
The play-maker has settled in well at the Emirates Stadium following his move from Malaga in the summer and has become a bit of a fans-favourite. He can increase his popularity with the supporters if he is able to put in another big performance on Sunday.
When asked about the game, he said: “We know how important it is and I hope we can rise to the challenge.
“To beat them and get into the top four and the Champions League, which is our aim for the season, is essential.
“It is very important, not just because it is a great rivalry or that it is Tottenham versus Arsenal but the fact that they are a side with great players who are fighting with us for a top-four spot.”
Cazorla put in a fantastic display in this fixture earlier in the season as Arsenal ran-out emphatic 5-2 winners, but he will know Tottenham are a much stronger side since then. It is rare that the Gunners go into a North London derby as the underdogs, but that is the case this time out.
Despite many feeling as though Wenger’s men have not had a good campaign, a win here takes them to within just a point of their North London rivals, so it is not all bad.
This fixture has produced a lot of goals over the years and nothing other than a thriller is expected on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal and Tottenham both have players capable of doing something special going forward and aren’t exactly on top of their game defensively, so we should entertained this weekend and the Lane will be absolutely rocking come kick-off.
Cue the 0-0 draw and a game to forget about.
