QPR goalkeeper and Arsenal target Julio Cesar has insisted that a move away from Loftus Road is not on his mind.
The 33-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates or a return to Serie A, however he has suggested that he is currently just focusing on his national team.
The Brazilian is currently away on international duty as Brazil prepare for their friendly with England on Sunday.
Cesar joined Queens Park Rangers last summer and is contracted to the club until 2016, but he has revealed that clubs have enquired about him.
Cesar told Globo Esporte: “I don’t know. There are indeed talks with some teams, but nothing definitive. This is the Confederations Cup moment, I have to focus on doing a good work for the national team.
“I won’t name the teams as it would not be ethical since I am under contract with Queens Park Rangers. I let people responsible for my career deal with it.”
Despite QPR being relegated, Cesar was excellent all season, performing some brilliant saves.
However, he admits that if he is to continue playing for Brazil and get in to the 2014 World Cup squad, he must be playing at the highest level.
He said, “But there is a dream of being world champions with Brazil. I won’t give up unless my name does not appear in the World Cup final list.”
Arsenal are reportedly very interested in the goalkeeper as they are looking to replace Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski as they have failed to give consistent performances.
It has been suggested that The Gunners are preparing £5million bid for Cesar, but QPR will be hoping that they can receive more for the player that was signed for free.
Teammate Robert Green has told QPR that he is ready to stay at the club and fight for them to get back in to the Premier League, which will help Arsenal’s cause for signing the player.
Cesar has reportedly said that he wants to stay in London, which has giving Arsenal a lot of hope of signing the player.
The experienced goalkeeper said, “Some Italian clubs are interested, but I love London – it’s a beautiful city.
“I want to remain in England because the football has impressed me a lot.’
AC Milan are also rumoured to be interested in the player, however Arsenal have now become the favourites to sign him since he confirmed that he wants to stay in England.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been given a transfer kitty of £70million for this summer’s transfer window, and is expected to bring in four significant signings.
Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic remains Wenger’s number one target, meanwhile Wayne Rooney, Cesc Fabregas, Clement Grenier and Maxime Gonalons remain on the Frenchman’s radar.
Arsenal need a strong leader and Cesar would bring a great amount of experience and leadership to their defence.
Thomas Vermaelen and Gervinho recently announced that they are looking to stay at the club and it was rumoured they were heading for the exit.
