Arsenal and Spurs ready to fight for Villa

It has been reported that Barcalona striker David Villa has told his advisers that he wants to come to the Premier League this summer.

The Spanish international revealed that he is ready to move from the Catalan giants and start a new challenge in England.

This has sparked interest from rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, who are rumoured to be desperate to beat each other to the signing of the player.

The forward has told his advisors that he has grown frustrated at the Nou Camp and wants regular first team football, meanwhile Barcalona have told him that he is free to speak to other clubs.

Arsenal attempted to make a deal for the player in January, however the deal broke down. But, Villa is very keen on a move to the Gunners as they can provide him with Champions League football, although he is no longer at the top of their transfer list, as Arsene Wenger now has other targets in mind.

Villa is rumoured to be valued at around £12million by Barca, and Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has already taken full advantage of this and has contacted the 31-year-old as he knows him personally.

This has left the player in a dilemma, as Spurs are ready to offer him a better financial package than their arch rivals, but cannot offer him Champions League football next season.

Liverpool have also emerged as contenders for his signature following the shocking news that their star man Luis Suarez wants to leave the club, however Villa will be without even Europa League football if he heads to Anfield, therefore it is highly unlikely he is likely to want to move to Merseyside.

Suarez is set to leave Liverpool for £40million as both Real Madrid and Chelsea are preparing deals for the Uruguay international. Brendan Rogers has almost brought in a new striker in Celta Vigo player Iago Aspas, in a deal worth around £9million.

Arsenal are in contention to make a shocking double swoop from Barca as they are also tracking their former captain Cesc Fabregas.

Fabregas is rumoured to want a move away from Spain and back to the Premier League following a disappointing time in his home country.

The Spaniard left Arsenal for £35million in 2011, and has attracted interest from both Manchester City and Manchester United, but he is holding out for a move from his old club.

The Gunners have first choice on Fabregas and may be tempted to make a move for the player, but Arsene Wenger revealed that he is unsure about making a move due to the central midfielders he has to choose from already.

If Arsenal manage to pull off a double swoop from Barca, this will show a real sign of intention for the coming season and this summer’s transfer market.

Wenger has been given £70million to spend this summer, and has already hinted that he is interested in some big names like Wayne Rooney and David Villa.
