Leverkusen meanwhile have been equally impressive winning six games so far with their only set back coming away to Schalke.

Both team impressed midweek in the Champions League with Bayern Munich putting on a master class in their 3-1 win over Manchester City midweek while Leverkusen beat Spanish side Real Sociedad 2-1, with the winner coming in injury time.

Leverkusen manager Sami Hyppia will draw some positives from the final 10 minutes of the game when the Bavarian giants took their eye of the ball and in the end were left hanging on as City created a couple of real goal-scoring chances.

The club have yet to lose at home this season while their last defeat in front of their fans coming against Bayern last March.

Given their impressive start to the season hope are high and midfielder Stefan Reinartz wants his side to build on that strong start and prove that they are genuine title contenders

“This game comes at a very, very good time for us,” he said.

“Saturday provides us with a chance to see whether the tendency will be for us to look over our shoulders, or whether we can look forward to sustaining a three-horse race.”

Hyppia’s only worry heading into the surrounds midfielder Gonzalo Castro, who is struggling with a hamstring injury.

Bayern meanwhile will be without long-term absentees Thiago Alcantara and Holger Badstuber (both knee), however Javi Martinez could be back in the squad after groin surgery while Mario Gotze’s will feature after making a substitute appearance against Manchester City.
