Jurgen Klopp’s side secured their first Champions league win of the new season when they beat Marseille 3-0 midweek and given their strong recent record against Saturday’s hosts they will be full of confidence.

Dortmund are unbeaten in their last four games against Monchengladbach winning two and drawing two, however they have not won at the Borussia-Park since 2009 and Klopp has warned his side that their title credential’s face a stern test.

“They have a good team, plenty of quality, great footballers,” Klopp said.

“We have focused on two games on our analysis, the previous home and previous away game.

“I think the difference on their performances isn’t that big anymore (between home and away).

“At the beginning they won their home matches and lost their away games, last time they got a point in Augsburg.”

Dortmund have scored 10 goals and conceded none in their last three games and will head into the game without long term absentee Sebastian Kehl, Ilkay Gundogan and Lukasz Piszczek.

Seventh place Monchengladbach meanwhile boast a 100% record at home winning all three games and scoring 11 goals in the process, with just two conceded.

Lucien Favre welcomes back Granit Xhaka from suspension, while Amin Younes and Filip Daems could remain out through injury.

Brazilian midfielder Raffael, with three leagues goals to his name so far this season, has impressed since his summer move to the club and he is relishing the prospect of facing last season’s Champions league runners up.

“They’re one of the best teams in the world and I think it’s important to play teams like that,” he said.

“Everyone wants to play against a team like Dortmund.

“As far as we’re concerned, we’re working hard to deliver a good season. We’ve got to put ourselves in a good position come the end of the season. Then we’ll see what’s possible.”
