Dortmund were 3-0 winners over Nuremburg last time out, their fourth win in their last five games and they will fancy their chances of getting a result against a Freiburg side that has lost three and drawn two of their last five games.
The strugglers may have beaten Bayern Leverkusen 3-2 at home in January but they have a poor record against Dortmund, with their last win at home coming in 1993.
The club lost 5-0 to Dortmund earlier in the season and have lost each of their last three home games against Klopp’s men. In addition to that, the club have a poor record at home picking up just 10 points in front of their own fans this season.
One man that Freiburg won’t have to contend with on Sunday is Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski.
The Polish striker flew home from International duty with a knee injury, missing the game with Scotland after being assessed by the club’s medical team told Bild “I have a slight strain of the cruciate ligament. The doctor says I shouldn’t play on Sunday,” those quotes were backed up by his managed who admitted it would be a “gamble” to play the 25 year old in the clash.
Lewandowski has scored 15 goals for Dortmund this season and currently tops the goal scoring charts in Germany.
In addition to the absence of Lewandowski, Klopp will also be without long-term absentees Neven Subotic, Jakub Blaszczykowski, Sven Bender and Ilkay Gündogan.
Freiburg will head into the game minus the services of Vaclav Pilar (knee) and Sebastian Freis (abdominal muscle)
