Pep Guardiola’s remarkable first season in charge of the Bavarian side continued midweek as they claimed the third trophy of his reign with a 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin thanks to goals from Toni Kroos, Mario Gotze and Franck Ribery.

With the title now in the bag with seven games to spare, Guardiola will be able to focus on adding to the upcoming Champions league quarter-final tie with Manchester United, although according to defender Jerome Boateng there will be no let up from the club.

“We’ve put a lot of hard work in to get to this point. We’ve never stopped trying to produce the performances we know we’re capable of in every single game,” he told the Bundesliga’s official website.

“I have no doubt that we’ll continue performing at this level in our remaining fixtures this season.

“I don’t think there’s any danger. We’ll only make things difficult for ourselves if we become complacent, but we’re adamant that we’re not going to let it come to that.”

Hoffenheim meanwhile have received a double boost heading into the game with Roberto Firmino extending his stay with the club midweek the news coming after the club won back to back games for the first time this season.

Firmino, linked with a move to Schalke, has agreed a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2017. The 13 goal attacker failed to add to his tally against Hannover midweek but goals from Eugen Polanski, Anthony Modeste and Sebastian Rudy sealed a 3-1 win and kept the club 10th in the table.

Hoffenheim coach Markus Gisdol will now head to the Allianz Arena in good form chasing a third successive win.

“We achieved a good, disciplined performance – really great. We have again scored three goals and played out a very controlled game,” the coach is quoted as saying by Kicker.

“That then Roberto Firmino has extended his contract (is something of) a milestone for us.”
