A win over the Ukrainian side, with whom United draw away to in the reverse fixture, would mark the first time in six years that the club had won all three homes games in the group stages.
With that in mind, and given recent form, Moyes will be determined the finish the group on a high and rebuild the confidence within his side.
“It’s important we give ourselves every chance of progressing even further in the Champions League by finishing top,” Moyes said.
“It won’t make it easier but it will give us a little bit of an advantage by having the second game (in the last 16) at home.
“We will do everything we can to be top and, as well as that, we’re unbeaten in the group and want to stay unbeaten if we can make that happen.”
The Red devils will have Wayne Rooney back in the squad after the forward missed the clash with Newcastle through suspension while Michael Carrick is once again missing.
Shinja Kagawa could play after he was an unused substitute against the Magpies. The former Borussia Dortmund star had his stomach pumped last week and despite being fit to take his place on the bench did not feature.
Shakhtar meanwhile will make their first ever trip to Old Trafford for a competitive game but with four wins in their last four game and qualification still to be confirmed Mircea Lucescu’s side won’t have time for history.
The club beat Real Sociedad 4-0 in their last outing and will head into the game with no new injury worries from their last game, a 1-0 win over Chornomorets.
The winning goal came courtesy of Luiz Adriano. The Brazilian has scored 9 goals this season and is currently on a run of three goals in last three games
