Chelsea v Steaua Bucharest Odds : Pressure on Mourinho as away side too big to ignore in Champions League

Things have not exactly gone to to plan for the ‘Special One’ in recent weeks as the latest Chelsea v Steaua Bucharest odds suggest there may be some value in backing the away side at a price of 16/1 (KO 19:45GMT).

Chelsea will head into their final group game looking for the win that will seal top spot in the group.

Jose Mourinho’s side have been far from impressive to date winning just three of their five games and losing both games to Swiss side, Basel.

In addition to their mixed form in Europe the club will go in to the clash on the back of a 3-2 defeat away to Stoke.

The defeat at the Brittania, Chelsea first ever Premier League defeat to the Potters, was also Mourinho’s first loss as a Chelsea manager in the month of December.

Defensive lapses have cost the club in recent weeks, with 6 goals conceded in their last two league games and defender Gary Cahill has called on his team-mates to cut out the errors.

“We’ve kept clean sheets this season, but in the last two games we’ve let too many goals in,” he said. “That’s unlike us and it’s down to individual mistakes.

“We talked about it after Sunderland and there were unfortunate incidents in the set-pieces, where we’ve had a look at it.

“Maybe it’s just a bit of bad luck, but obviously away from home, we’ve got to keep it tight. I feel we’ve done that most of the season, but this result was poor for us.

“It’s massively disappointing because it’s so tight at the minute that you’ve got to keep chalking up results.

“A game, which we felt we could have got points from, we’ve lost, which is very disappointing.”

Thankfully for the Blues they have a good record against Steau. The club won the reverse fixture 4-0, to add to the two wins they secured on their way to Europa League success last season.

Mourinho will also be boosted by an almost full strength squad with David Luiz and long-term absentee Marco van Ginkel the only absentees.

Steau will finish bottom of the group regardless of the result and will head into the game without Lucian Filip.
