Goalkeeper Petr Cech (shoulder), defender John Terry (ankle), midfielder Eden Hazard (calf) and striker Samuel Eto’o (knee) all took part in training session and could feature on Wednesday.
Cech and Terry were both injured in the first leg and missed the league win over Liverpool. It was initially believed that the pair would be set for an extended period on the sidelines however a tweet from the official Chelsea twitter account confirmed their sooner-than-expected return to action.
“Training underway at Cobham. Petr Cech, John Terry, Eden Hazard and Samuel Eto’o involved,” the club wrote.
It remains to be seen if the pair along with Hazard, out since he injured his calf against PSG in the last round or Eto’o will feature on Wednesday.
Regardless of whether the quartet are fit to play, Chelsea demonstrated their strength in depth as a much changed side eased to a 2-0 win over Liverpool.
The likes of Mark Schwarzer and Tomas Kalas both produced impressive performances at Anfield and their displays left an impression on Atletico manager Diego Simone.
“It is clear Chelsea has a huge team because they won despite making a lot of changes,” he said.
“That means we are going to play against a powerful team, something we knew.
“So they will make a lot of problems for us next Wednesday.”
