An opening day 2-0 win over Malmo raised expectations that the Italian champions could mount a serious challenge this season in Europe however those hopes have been temporarily dashed following back to back 1-0 losses to Olympiakos and Atletico Madrid.

The result has left the “Old Lady” third in the group on three points, three off joint leaders Olympiakos and Atletico Madrid.

The importance of Tuesday’s match up has not been lost on the Juventus players with the must-win clash described as a “final” by playmaker Andrea Pirlo.

Pirlo was part of a Juve side that ended a four game winless away run with a 2-0 win over Empoli last time out and the veteran, the opening goal scorer in the game, wants his side to kick on from that result.

“It [Saturday’s win] was an important sign, mainly for ourselves” The Italian star told the club’s official website.

“That enables us to prepare as best we can for Tuesday’s game.

“It’s like a final and we must put in a great performance because only one result will do.”

The last time Juventus played Olympiakos at home they won 7-0 with David Trezeguet scoring twice however this time round this face a tough task.

Olympiacos boss Michel had the luxury of being able to rest Ibrahim Afellay, Leandro Salino and Delvin N’Dinga for the goalless draw with Asteras Tripolis on Saturday.

The result made it just one defeat in 8 league games this season and left them 5 point behind early leaders PAOK.

Juventus meanwhile are three points clear of Roma at the top of Serie A following their 8th league win of the season.
