Roma Eye Leicester City Player as Salah Replacement

AS Roma have identified Leicester City playmaker Riyad Mahrez as a replacement for Mohammed Salah at the Giallorossi.

Roma are currently in the market for a player that can fill the creative void left by Salah following his move to Liverpool, in a deal that could be worth as much as €50 million to the club.

While a bid has not been placed by the Rome based club, head coach Eusebio Di Francesco spoke about him in high regard and admitted that the club were monitoring the Algerian international.

“Riyad Mahrez is definitely a great and interesting player,” De Francesco said.

“[He is] one of those who maybe Roma is following. A left-footer playing on the right-hand side, which could be of great help to the team.”

The 2015/2016 Premier League player of the year has made his interest clear that he desires to leave the King Power Stadium this Transfer Window, having shunned reported interest from Arsenal and Barcelona last season to help the Foxes in their maiden Champions League campaign, in which they impressively reached the Quarter Final stage.

Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare claimed on Tuesday that the club had not yet received a bid for the winger who was instrumental in helping Leicester to the title two seasons ago, although had a less influential season last term, scoring six league goals.

It looks like Mahrez will definitely be on the move this summer, and Roma, who finished in second place in Serie A last season, may be his destination.

Leicester have so far signed Defensive Midfielder Vincente Iborra from Sevilla, Centre back Harry Maguire from Hull City and today confirmed he signing of goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic, also from Hull.
