Bale to force Tottenham exit?

It is being reported that Tottenham’s Gareth Bale will demand a transfer from White Hart Lane should one of the club’s other star players be sold.

The Welshman is not keen on the idea of playmaker Luka Modric moving on this summer and will seriously consider his future if this happens.

As it stands, Tottenham are standing firm with regards to Modric’s future.

Despite a £22m bid from Chelsea, they have publically stated their determination to hold onto their best players. Should they move away from this firm stance though, they could lose more than just Modric.

Bale is happy at the club and committed his future to Spurs by signing a contract last season, but he is an ambitious young player and will want the team to keep moving forward.

If they fail to build on their first season in the Champions League and start selling their best players rather than improving the squad, he might get rather frustrated with life.

Overall, the future of Modric is crucial for Tottenham. Not only would it signal their intent of becoming a top four Premier League team once again, but it would show the likes of Bale that the future is bright.

Bale’s intention will be to stay at Tottenham. This is the club he has had success at and he wants to be a big part of their future plans.

He will know that there is massive interest for his services from around Europe though and if Modric heads out of the door, he might not be too far behind.

All in all, this is going to be a fascinating few weeks for Spurs. Manager Harry Redknapp has already admitted that they have to sell players before they can buy, but this doesn’t include getting rid of Modric of Bale.

Fringe players like Robbie Keane, Jermaine Jenas and Jamie O’Hara – who has already departed for Wolves – are the ones he will be looking to ship out.

Then, he will aim to bring in two or three more players to play alongside Bale and Modric as they push for a Champions League place once again.
