Chelsea will be looking to win the Champions League for the first time ever  tonight as Paddy make them long odds to lift the trophy, and offer free bets when they travel to Germany to take on four time winners Bayern Munich.

Whatever happens this weekend, Chelsea’s journey to the final has been somewhat dramatic. Going into the second-leg of the last 16 tie with Napoli, they were 3-1 down and had just sacked their manager.

A dramatic night at Stamford Bridge followed though with Roberto Di Matteo guiding the Blues to a famous 4-1 victory on the night, meaning they progressed.

With the Italian in charge, they then progressed past Benfica in the next round, setting up a meeting with reigning Champions Barcelona.

This is where Chelsea really turned on the style. Superb tactics and team spirit meant that they secured a 1-0 win on home soil, before going to Barcelona and grabbing a dramatic 2-2 draw.

Di Matteo will be determined for this not to be the end of the achievements in Europe this season though. As famous a night as it was, it would mean a great deal less if they failed to defeat Bayern Munich this weekend.

As for Bayern Munich, they too will be fully focused on victory and nothing else. Their domestic season hasn’t gone according to plan – they have lost out to Borussia Dortmund in both the league and cup – and this is the time for them to make amends.

The Champions League is the biggest competition of all and victory this weekend would make it a memorable campaign for Jupp Heynckes’s men.

Expectation is very significant for the German side of course. They are in the home stadium and are without doubt the favourites to be crowned Champions of Europe.

Both Bayern and Chelsea have lost out at this stage in the last few years and these are not memories they will want to relive. Someone has to leave disappointed though and this makes Saturday night’s contest a high pressure occasion.

With Chelsea missing the likes of John Terry through suspension, it is time for other players to step up and make a name for themselves. For one of these teams, it is set to be one of the most famous nights in their history.
