Forest have suffered a slip dip in form in recent weeks drawing 2-2 with Middlesbrough and Doncaster before losing midweek to in-form Burnley in the Capital One Cup.

Manager Billy Davies made wholesales changes for the cup clash and it is likely that a lot of those changes will be reversed with Kelvin Wilson also likely to come into the reckoning.

One man who will hope to keep his place however is top scorer Matt Derbyshire after he scored third goal in as many starts this season & 4th goal in total midweek.

As well as exiting the cups, the dropped points at ‘Boro and Doncaster has seen Davies side drop to sixth in the table, 5 points behind leaders QPR although they are just two points off the second automatic promotion place, an indication of just how competitive it is in the Championship.

Despite sitting in 12th place Derby are just four points off the play off places and a derby win on Saturday would propel them in amongst the contenders.

Nigel Clough’s side have struggled since an impressive 5-1 win over Millwall two weeks ago losing to Reading and Leicester and drawing with Bolton.

With games against fellow promotion hopefuls Watford, Leeds and Ipswich all coming up after the clash with Forest Clough will he hoping his side can return to winning ways.

The Rams will head into the game without Jeff Hendrick as he continues his recovering from a chipped bone in his foot. The Republic of Ireland International joins Adam Legzdins, James Bailey, Mark O’Brien, Paul Coutts and long-term absentee Shaun Barker on the sidelines.

Saturday’s clash will be the 83rd league meeting between the sides and not much separates them with Forest winning 33 of those games to Derby’s 29 victories.

There have been 82 league games between these two bitter rivals with Forest having the better record having secured 33 league wins & 20 draws with Derby county on 29 wins.

Recent results have gone the way of Derby, who are unbeaten in their last four games with their rivals, winning three and drawing one of them.

However the return of Billy Davies, who won both games in the last season of his first spell in charge, has helped the belief that local bragging rights won’t have to travel far.

The game kicks off the Championship coupon for the weekend at 12:15 GMT.
