Any slips up will be punished however especially with three clubs capable of moving top this weekend. They include second place Watford, unbeaten in their last five. The Hornets drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest midweek and they face another tricky test this week with a trip to the North East to take on third place Middlesbrough.

Behind them fourth place Wolves, with a win and two draws in their last three games face inconsistent Leeds, without a win in five at Elland Road. The clash between the two former Premier league sides is likely to draw a big crowd.

leeds v wolvesNorwich, one time leaders of the league, remain very much in contention but two defeats and two draws in their last four games means they are now four points off top spot. They face Sheffield Wednesday at home. Wednesday for their part are currently mid-table four points off the playoffs however their failure at home, just the one all season, is costing them dearly.

Bournemouth started the season in flying fashion and they look to be returning to that form with three wins from their last three games. They are away to struggling Birmingham, just a place above the relegation zone.

Elsewhere in the league, Forest without a win in their last 7 games in all competitions will hope to get back to winning ways against Blackburn, Ipswich host Huddersfield, basement outfit Blackpool travel to play Reading, Millwall meet Cardiff in the 12.45 kick off and Bolton welcome Brentford to the Reebok.

The action gets underway on Friday night when Fulham host Charlton.
