The club and indeed the new manager will have little time to dwell however as they resume their struggle to move away from the relegation zone on Saturday away to Wigan.

The Cottagers took their time getting to grips with life in the second tier of English football but three wins in their last five games has moved the club up to 20th in the table.

Last time out they beat Charlton 3-0 to extend their recent unbeaten run to three games and with 10 points from their last 5 games they are the form team in the bottom half of the table.

The club are just one place and one point behind their weekend hosts with a win enough to move as high as 15th dependant on results elsewhere.

Wigan however maybe 19th in the table but they are unbeaten in their last five games. The club have drawn four and won one during that time. Last time out Wigan beat league leaders Derby 2-1 thank to a brace from James McClean. The result highlighted just how competitive the Latics can be and with just one defeat all season at home, Fulham face a tough task.
