Under-21 side against West Brom on Tuesday and is now poised to feature against high flying Middlesbrough on Saturday.

“It’s amazing to be back involved with the boys – I have missed it every day for the last 16 months. You miss everything; the banter with the lads, the away trips, getting ready for games and the adrenaline rush you get.” Karacan told the club’s official website.

“It’s brilliant to be back involved and training every day. I’m feeling stronger as each day comes and hopefully I can be involved against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

“I want to be back in the frame now. I’ll look to be making my comeback on Saturday and there will be no better feeling than running out at the Madejski Stadium in front of the fans. I’ve missed that place a lot.”

Goalkeeper Adam Federici is also set to return after being rested last time out while Pavel Pogrebnyak, Anton Ferdinand (both calf) and Hope Akpan (shoulder) are set to miss out.

Middlesbrough, fourth in the table, will be without Ryan Fredericks (thigh), Emilio Nsue (international duty), Damia Abella (knee) and Rhys Williams (Achilles) while Tomas Kalas’ loan move has not yet being completed.

Adam Clayton is suspended so Milos Veljkovic is tipped to come into the middle of the field while Midfielder Muzzy Carayol and defender Damia Abella are set to miss out.

Boro have lost two of their last 6 on the road and have picked up just one point from their last two away games, going down 2-0 to Ipswich and drawing 0-0 with Blackburn.
