After a very sticky spell for the once league leaders, which saw the side plummet after a poor run of form, Brighton have climbed back into contention at the top of the table on the back of four wins and a draw in their last five games. The South Coast side could move joint top of the table, alongside leaders Hull, if they win so there is plenty to play for as they make the trip to South Wales.

Last time out they grabbed a hard fought point away at the league leaders, the club managing to keep a third clean sheet in five in the process.

Manager Chris Hughton is likely to have Beram Kayal fit. The Israeli midfielder is carried a slight groin injury, one that forced him off last week, but he is likely to be fit.

Speaking pre-match to the Argyle, Hughton confirmed the 27 year old would be fit, telling reporters “He is okay. He had a slight groin problem that he was able to play through. We have managed it to a degree. Certainly if he wasn’t fit he wouldn’t play with the options that we’ve got.

Cardiff v Brighton : Manager’s View

“It’s something all players do at times. There will always be two or three playing through knocks and some problems. That’s the nature of the game, so he is fine.”

Hughton also revealed that James Wilson is also set to start after missing the last two games with a minor groin injury while Liam Rosenior is back available after returning to the squad as an unused substitute at Hull last time out. Likewise club stalwart Bobby Zamora could return to the starting line up after a rest midweek.

Uwe Huenemeier is likely to miss out while Gaetan Bong and Captain Gordon Greer are back in training.

Cardiff meanwhile will be out to make it 12 games unbeaten at home this weekend and could bring Lex Immers into the side to add some firepower up front, as the side looks to improve on their disappointing stalemate with Charlton last time out.

Sammy Ameobi continues to be banned for this game, while Aron Gunnarsson could take the ex Newcastle man’s place in the starting XI.

Cardiff v Brighton : Match Outcome

The odds reflect a tight affair at the City of Cardiff Stadium, but its one which could reap a decent return, and the home win at 9/4 looks worthy of significant thought.

Back the Bluebirds to put a halt on Brighton’s upturn in fortunes, and put the Welsh side right back into the Championship playoff melting pot.
