The in-form Seagulls with four wins and a draw in their last five games can move into second place, level on points with Hull, if they can beat Cardiff on their own patch.

The Bluebirds won’t be easy targets however. The club are unbeaten in their last 11 home games and could move up to 7th, two points off the top 6 with a win of their own.

Fourth place Burnley can also move up the standings if they can overcome the challenge of struggling Rotherham at home. The Clarets have won three and drawn two of their last five, including a 1-0 win over the leaders in round 30.

Rotherham meanwhile are third from bottom having conceded the second most goals in the league. The club have lost three and drawn two of their last five, although they did pick up a credible point against promotion chasing Birmingham in their last outing.

Fifth place Sheffield Wednesday, chasing a third successive win, travel to face Preston North End, while sixth place Derby, with three losses and two draws in their last five will travel to London to take on Brentford. The Bees are 13th in the table, 11 points off the top 6 and with just one win in their last five.

Elsewhere, bottom of the table Bolton Wanderers, on the brink of a takeover, will hope for some more cheer on the field when they take on QPR at home. Neil Lennon’s side are just 7 points from safety but are not giving up the fight after picking up 7 points from their last 5 games.

Finally Huddersfield face Wolves, MK Dons host Bristol City and Charlton travel to take on Fulham.
