The club have lost three and drawn 6 during that run, their form leaving them 17th in the table, 12 points clear of the relegation zone but some 16 points off the play-off places.

Forward Chris Wood has been missing during their recent run of results.

The New Zealand star has missed United’s last five games with a hamstring problem and while he won’t be fit for the trip to the South Coast the former Leicester City forward is edging closer to a welcome return to action with the clash with Bolton a more likely return date.

Brighton meanwhile are also not expected to rush back a key man. First choice left back Gaeten Bong, sidelined since October with a thigh injury is back training but the return of Liam Rosenior to action means the defender won’t be rushed into action.

Right back Bruno is expected to be fit despite suffering a knock in the 4-0 win over Bristol City midweek. The win was the perfect response following their heavy defeat to Cardiff last weekend.

The Seagulls will head into the weekend just three points off leaders Hull, although they have played a game more, and just two points off the second promotion spot.

Chris Hughton’s side have been in good form of late, winning five and drawing one of their last 7 games.

Tomer Hemed and Jamie Murphy have been key men for Brighton in recent weeks with three goals each in their last five games.
