Hull take on Blackpool for the first Championship match of the season as a new campaign gets under way on Friday night, with the match shown live on Sky Sports 1.
Hull have the home advantage coming into the season opener and Nigel Pearson will want to get his side off to a good start as they once again attempt to get back to the hallowed land of the Premiership.
Dele Adebola has arrived to add some menace and muscle up front and Tiger’s fans will be hoping their side can replicate their away successes on the the road last season, where they went a record breaking 17 games unbeaten.
Bookmakers make Hull 11/8 to take the first three points of the Championship and that price is sure to attract plenty of support. Grab a free £100 bet with Paddy Power and get your weekend off to a winning start.
Blackpool were of course put out of the Premier League on the final day of last season and charismatic boss Ian Holloway has a tough job in once again gaining promotion with the departure of key striker D J Campbell to QPR last week, and inspirational captain and midfielder Charlie Adam is sure to be missed making his runs from midfield.
Barry Ferguson has been brought in to bring some defensive cover but the Tangerines do look a little threadbare up front ,without the talents of Adam and Campbell.
Nigel Pearson is a calming influence and his persona carries on to the field, however the ex Leicester boss will know the importance of starting out with a win. Stability is what is required after midfielder Jimmy Bullard was suspended by the club, but the future remains positive with head of football operations Adam Pearson now taking over 100% control at the KC Stadium.
As for Blackpool it remains to be seen whether Ian Holloway continues his approach of attacking football, but this could work against him with the main instigators of their free flowing football having left the club.
