Chelsea throw hat in Otamendi pursuit

Jose Mourinho has asked his bosses to try and snare the Argentine international away from Manchester United this summer

Following a great showing at the recently concluded Copa America where his team lost the final to eventual champions Chile in Santiago, Nicolas Otamendi’s stock has risen and it is clear that he will not be staying at current club Valencia beyond this summer.

The stylish defender has been hotly linked with a move to Manchester United who have been keeping tabs on him for a really long time. And although Real Madrid are also keen on bringing the player to the Bernabeu, Otamendi prefers a switch to the Premier League.

So far, neither Manchester United nor Chelsea have made any serious bids for the player which means that he could eventually be anybody’s.

However, any club wanting to sign the defender, will have to pay in excess of 45 million euros to convince Los Che into letting go of their prized asset.
