The Chelsea boss says that he is not surprised to see the Blues appeal against the goalkeeper’s red card rejected
The Belgian international was shown the red card for a reckless challenge on Bafetimbi Gomis during Chelsea’s opening day draw with Swansea last weekend which means that the youngster will not be in goal in the team’s big game against Manchester City.
However, Mourinho says that he was not surprised to see the FA reject the team’s appeal as this is not the first time the FA has done that to his side.
“No, I am not surprised. I am not surprised because normally I know we are not normally successful in these,” BT Sport quotes the manager as saying.
“Normally we are not successful and normally the committees they support the referee decisions so when the referee decides that it is a red card, normally 99% of the time the committees don’t go against the decision and they support the referees’ decision. So I never thought he could be available.”
